Continuing Resolution Important to Begin Operations Against ISIS

Date: Sept. 17, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Steve Pearce voted in favor of H.J. Res. 124, the Continuing Appropriations Resolution proposed by the House to fund the government until Dec. 11.

"Managing the country two to three months at a time is no way to operate. Typically, I vote against partial-year funding bills," said Congressman Steve Pearce. "This would not be acceptable in small business, in our homes or our states. However, today's resolution included the funding to begin military operations to counter the ISIS threat. Therefore, I felt compelled to support the measure."

"Funding for cleanup and to provide jobs at the Waste Isolation Pilot Project in Carlsbad is also included in this resolution," Pearce continued. "This is critical for our national security. The resolution also included funding for border security and veterans services."

NOTE: H.J. Res. 124 Continuing Appropriations Resolution, passed by a vote of 319 to 108.
